fos4X is a spin-off of TU Munich with a strong technical core in fiber-optic sensing. After activities in several markets, it successfully found product-market fit to conquer a niche in wind. With a strong technological core and domain expertise, it scaled significantly and finally supplied to the top 10 wind turbine OEM worldwide until exit in 2020.
The discussion will cover experiences from first attempts and screenings in different verticals, how the pivot in business approach and focus on wind was successfully made and why structuring the design-in journey as a process was key to success.
