BP Offshore Wind Innovation Campaigns open for applications

BP have just announced three innovation campaigns for offshore wind.

According to the website, they “are on the lookout for innovative ideas and new collaborations” in three areas:

  1. Circularity. We want all of our offshore wind projects to be developed and operated with sustainability in mind and are looking for any concepts that can help eliminate waste and pollution within offshore wind or assist with recycling materials.
  2. System integration. Offshore wind has the potential to be further integrated within the wider energy system, and we are looking for ideas that can increase flexibility and balance supply and demand of offshore wind energy.
  3. Ecology. bp’s sustainability frame has dedicated aims to enhance biodiversity and champion nature-based solutions where we work, and we are looking for solutions to further this and mitigate the potential negative effects of offshore wind.

They are open about where the innovations could come from, and state

We are on the lookout for collaborators from individuals to large-scale organizations who have new and exciting ideas – at any level of maturity – about how to implement on our three campaign areas.

… so it’s not just for startups.
